The idea behind ActionStep was conceived by CEO Ted Jordan after working in the United States building costly and complex software systems.  Ted became increasingly aware of the unnecessary duplication in these systems since much of the core functionality is essentially the same, and he began to wonder if there was a way to capture all the common functionality into a single architecture, allowing customers to configure it to their needs. At the end of the day, why should big businesses with big budgets be the only ones to benefit from intelligent business management software?

Ted's vision was a fully integrated and comprehensive web-based business management application for small to medium-sized businesses. It had to combine affordability with cost-effectiveness and deliver immediate value through heightened productivity. Ted solved the problem by combining mature Internet technologies with a specialised software architecture that he designed from the ground up.

ActionStep evolved into a working concept in 2004 when Ted relocated to New Zealand. Upon joining forces with several leading clients in 2005 the product was launched!
