Ted Jordan

CEO & CTO

A leader, developer-extraordinaire and mentor.

Ted’s role as CEO, CTO and founder of ActionStep has evolved from a successful 20 year career within the software industry.

A BSC degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering was the foundation for his career which was primarily based in the United States. Ted started work with HBO, a subsidiary of Time Warner, as a system analyst working on their migration to client-server technologies using Oracle on UNIX. He then moved to Salomon Brothers where he worked on the fixed-income trading floor application and was in charge of a network of systems in several countries.

Ted progressed his career at this juncture by becoming an independent consultant to various firms. A career highlight came at this point: the development of a system to manage the real-time robotics applications for the largest news printing operation in Scandinavia.

The next career move saw Ted hired as Group Manager at UCS, a firm that provided software solutions to the US Federal Government and Fortune 500 companies, where he had the overall responsibility for a number of software development teams.

From there Ted started Mosaic Software in the USA and served as CEO and CTO where he took the company from start-up to a profitable operation in the US, Canada and Latin America.

Following this outstanding career achievement, Ted was hired as COO of Demandstar.com which was listed on the NASDAQ and then merged with Onvia.com. At DemandStar.com Ted was in charge of marketing, operations, and a national sales force throughout the USA.

Over the years Ted became increasingly aware of the unnecessary cost and complexity of building large software systems since much of the core functionality is essentially the same.  Ted wondered if there was a way to capture all the common functionality into a single architecture and allow customers to configure it to their needs.  Ted's vision was a fully integrated and comprehensive business management application which combines affordability with cost-effectiveness and delivers immediate value through heightened productivity.  Ted solved the problem by combining mature Internet technologies with a specialized software architecture that he designed from the ground up.

Ted moved to New Zealand in 2002 and this gave him the opportunity to bring the vision into reality, and ActionStep was born!
